We just upgraded to Succesion and have replace the cards with Fiji cards. The question is do the fiber cables have to match TX and RX for each card? Currently there are TX and TX on a couple of cards and when that secondary clock is active it shoots out Fiji alarms. Is this the cause of the problem?

card a xmit goes to card b rec, card b xmit goes to card a rec. they even marked that one right.. a nortel rule has been broken.

Also note the following when playing with your FIJIs:

FIJI cards in Shelf 0 are connected in ascending order (Group 0 TX to Group 1 RX. Group 1 TX to Group 2 RX etc...)

FIJI cards in Shelf 1 are connected in descending order (Group 7 TX to Group 6 RX, Group 6 TX to Group 5 RX....Group 1 TX to Group 0 RX)

I think that's right -- right?

Another problem we are having is when we switch clocks, we start to get FIJI alarms on the switch. I believe the problem is with the clock card, but the project manager(who is rock headed) believes it is the way the fiber cables are connected.

Fiji 005, Fiji 010, and Fiji 018 are the alarms showing when switching the clocks.

your cables have to be within a certain perm's the length is now very touchie.. the loop test MUST be below a 50. we have had to make major changes to get this done, including moving a column so shorter cables would fit. you do know that the processors are now zero is always active and 1 is always standby. not the old one taking turn style that worked so well

Thanks for the help with the problem. Come to find out we had a bad SCSI cable going to one of the FIJI cards.
