Ok - I'd like some opinion on the following - bit murky but I'll try my best to describe.

I have a trading ledger. The entries into the ledger have a date field.

When producing a report - I need two things to happen.

I need to process the report (talley the purchases and sales) in a FIFO (First In First Out) basis by product and product specifics (month delivery in this case). Secondly I need to have any "leftovers" - commonly known as open positions - listed at the end so they can be valued to the market settlement (known as Marked-To-Market). These open positions need to maintain their respective groupings.

Any guidance - thoughts on an efficient way to do this?

Kindest,
Mark

If I understand your dilema correctly. In the report I would go to the sorting and grouping tab and set the first sorting/grouping to be wether it is a left-over or not then sort by date. and go from there.
