fields not linking

Hi im trying to get two different prices on the same report every time i preview it after ading the second data set all i get is a price of 0.0. the two data sets are linked bt item number and description. One data set has the price the customer pays, and the second has the price we pay unitprice and stdcost, everything from the first data set works fine but i can not get the std cost to see the item number i guess because i can browse data and see the numbers in it, but its not giving me anything on the report at all.

Any help i would love this is driving me nuts.

Hi,
Be sure to use a Left Outer Join as the link type, in case thare are some records in the first table that do not
exist in the second..

Also be sure all the records in Table 2 that have those fields populated have the same format as the matching fields in Table 1

I tried that and now when i hit the preview pane it just locks up grrr.

make sure i did it right the table that has the customer prices in it is our sales order form it only has some item number and descriptions the other table has all of our item numbers and descriptions so i seleted the link and chose left outer. The table with our prices is the one im trying add in.

Why are you linking on desription? I would throw that out as description is typically a modifieabe field, whereas item number is usually a ket field and not modifiable.
