Using CR XI pro, and I need to have different field headers or text object headers for a Group section vs. Detail section.

The group data is generally totals, summaries, or formulas, and so sometimes I need what was the field header in PH to be a text object description, especially if I delete a filed in the detail section, which also then deletes the field header.

What I want to accomplish is to have headers above the Group to describe Group data, and then separate headers to describe the detail data.

The group headers should be at the top of each group only once each time it changes groups. Then the detail headers should be at the top ONLY) of the detail sections so that the detail is then listed underneath without having the headers repeat above each line of detail data.

Insert group headings in a group header_a section, by inserting text boxes with the appropriate text. For detail headings, you can insert a detail_a section which is formatted in the section expert->details->suppress->x+2:

{table.groupfield} = previous({table.groupfield})

Again, place detail headings in detail_a, with your usual detail fields in detail_b.

lbass,
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by
{table.groupfield} = previous({table.groupfield})

The group field is - GroupName ({sales.sold_date}, "monthly")
but using ({sales.sold_date}, "monthly") gives me errors

Using - {sales.sold_date} = previous({sales.sold_date})
is better than before when it was Da,Db,Da,Db but Now it puts the Da headers above EACH Day in the Details

I want is the Da header above the entire months details, Then the Group and then Details for next month etc.

month({sales.sold_date}) = month(previous({sales.sold_date}))

Thank you, That did it!

This would seem to be a common problem. Out of the 15 or so reports I have created, this problem seem to occur almost every time. Why do they make it difficult where you have to use a formula, instead of simply having sections where you could put headers or tittles for each section ?
