Hope someone can help, I have a spreadsheet that I have imported into access, I have linked this to our 'live' database via odbc, and want to join the 2 tables using a query,

however the field I need in the linked table is not available in the list of fields.

can someone explain why and also what i need to do to in order to join these 2 tables together.

Regards, Janet

I, at least, do not quite understand the issue / question as stated. Could you expand on the topic a bit? e.g. provide a list of the fields in the db and cols in the workbook.sheet and what is expected but missing? Perhaps even an abbreviated sample?

sorry, I have a spreadsheet that has come from a parnter organisation and contains company names and addresses, some of which are on our database some are not, the problem is thie unique identifer for the company does not match ours.

So far I have input their unique identifier for the company into a spare field on our database which i have called Partner Identifer PI

so what I want to do is create a query in access, that will show me all the companies in the partner table (PT) that has their identifer (PI)input in the Master Table (MT)

then get a list of those that have not had an identifier keyed in.

The problem I have in access is when i JOIN these 2 tables the Partner identifer field, is not available.

does this make any more sense ?

Thanks, Janet

Not available how? Are you using the Ms. A. Query Grid tool? If so, is the field not available in EITHER source? One or the other of the sources? Is it available in BOTH sources if you open them independently (as tables or Select * queries)? do they have (the fields) the SAME (exact) names in the two tables?
