I have a fibre remote ipe card that is tied to a remote site cabinet. The vendor we are leasing the fiber between the sites from is going the have to break the link between the 2 sites to do some repairs to the fiber. What will i need to do, to have the pbx and remote shelf ready for the link to be down. Or will unhooking the fibers on both ends and rehooking them back up after they are finished be all i need to do for the two ends to link back up?

grnichol: You will need to disable the FPEC first and then the FNET.
Identify the specific FPEC (shown as XPEC0 or XPEC1 in LD 97)
Then disable the FPEC from LD 32 with DSXP xx where xx is the controller #, then disable the NETWORK card with DISL yy, where yy is the SUPERLOOP #.
This will save you from a whole string of FIR003 NET xx messages and alarms when the fibre goes offline.
When service is restored, do the reverse. ENLL yy, and then ENXP xx. You may also choose to do a software download when enabling the FPEC. I personally do it because I can see the cards come online with a string of messages like XMI002 xx 1 1 XDLC - somewhat like when you insert a new card.
Most times when the remote is really remote, it's nice to know that when you stat a fibre supl and it says that it's okay, it's really ok. That way you don't get cellphone calls from less-than-happy OOS users. I've stat'ed FIBR SUPLs many times and gotten misleading info. The TTY says one thing and an onsite tech staring at a whole shelf of lit red LEDs says the opposite.

Heed dadz says. The status is not always correct, and also be prepared to get at the remote end. Sometimes the remote card will not download without being reseated.
