Fibre cable/type suitable for 1000-Base-SX GBICs?

I have two Cisco 4006 switches and each has a 1000-Base-SX GBIC with an SC connector. I am trying to trunk between these two using the GBICs.

If I use a SC-to-SC fibre patch lead and connect the switches directly together, I can trunk fine, so the switches are obviously behaving OK.

However, the two switches are to be located in two rooms which are about 150m apart and are linked by a run of OM2 62.5/125 multi-mode fibre (presented with ST connectors).

As I understand it (although I may be wrong), the 1000-Base-SX GBICs should work with this fibre, which I am connecting to the GBICs using SC-to-ST 62.5/125 patch leads.

Can anyone shed any light on this, please?

{I found this info in our switch's install booklet}
GBIC Port Cabeling Specs

# looks like your req. is well within the spec...

I have a question concerning interconnecting some 3COM products.

I need to interconnect these three products with fiber (GBICS/ SFPs)

3C17706-US: 12 autosensing 10/100/1000 ports;
6 fixed 1000BASE-SX ports
6 GBIC ports accommodating
1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX, or
1000BASE-LH70 GBICs
1 expansion slot

3CR17402-91 48 autosensing
10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T ports
(four of which are dual-purposed with the
SFP slots);
4 SFP slots accommodating
1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX and
1000BASE-LH SPFs (SFPs sold
separately); console port

3C17206 24 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX configured as
automatic MDIX;
2 module slots accommodating media
modules or stacking modules;
expandable to 192 ports

Questions:
1. How do i do it? I know the 3C17206 does not have fiber possibilities, but what about connecting the
3CR17402-91 and the 3C17706-US?

2. If connecting through fiber is not possible, what would be the downside (if any) of connecting through the 1000BASE-T ethernet ports?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Yes, as everyone stated, there should be no problems on that fibre. However, it turns out that the fibre run is dead, so ...

Thanks.

try swapping the RX/TX fiber on the SC end.

Also make sure the patch panel really work by using...a torch.

Yeah, it's been tested by the original installer and deemed 'dead'. They are going to fix and/or re-lay it ... cheers.
