I have an option 81 with a fiber remote cabinet. All calls associated with this loop have static. I know the problem is not in cabling and I don't believe the fiber would cause this issue. The static seems to be worse when you start talking and can be intermittent. I was also told that the problem was not as bad when only a few phones were on the loop but I haven't verified that. Could the problem possibly be in the F PEC card in the remote shelf or the remote cabinet itself? Also I have already changed out line cards with no improvement. Just looking for a good place to start. Thanks!

it could be either end. if the far end has a translation loss or the near end is sending corrupt data it could cause that.. i would look at the fiber patches with the lights off. several times i've found a pinch point on fiber jumpers in the dark.. they tend to glow if you in a bad area.. it could be the fiber.. i've never had one cause static.. i have had a fpec or a fiber patch cause static

I had a problem with one of my Fiber Remotes - not exactly static, but the voice was "hashy" on all sets - that turned out to be the power supply. You might want to try swapping out the PS before you get too deep into troubleshooting the fiber link components.
