I am having a real problem with this one. My customer has been experiencing problems with their fiber remote cabinet off their Opt 51C. About every 20 minutes or so the switch spits out the following errors:

XMI000 8:RSIG link lost-reinitialzing
FIR111 PEC 3 P 7
R71 CRC threshold exceeded

This coincides with calls dropping to the link resetting ans such. Nortel's solution search recommended replacing the NT1P63CA transciever cards on the FPEC. We did this with no success. We have replaced all of the fiber cards on both ends and have tested the fiber and it show a <1db attenuation. The fiber is glass all the way through, but is not a point to point. It has 4 hops it goes through. Not repeaters, just junction blocks. The PBX is on 25.40b with all the latest DEPLIST packs installed.

Check fiber for mode. Single-mode or multi-mode fiber. Then check if the type fiber matches the type needed for the card.

also make sure the fiber between the front and back of your switch is hte same mode as the fiber jumpers and the fiber link.. i've had one where the internal cable was yellow, everything else was orange.. a sure sign of a mode mismatch, if all of those match, you've got a bad fiber link or a bad unit on either end.. you don't need to define the fiber mode in software, and the card part number doesn't change

Just wanted to follow up. I ended up replacing the card cage in the PBX, the clock controller and the FNET card and after that the problem went away. The FNET card was the one I used in the original swap. I also have it running on the customers fiber since the Nortel cable won't interface with their equipment. Nortel could not tell me what the actual problem was or which component fixed the problem.
