fetchmail not fetching mail

i am running the latest fetchamil under mandrkae 8.1 with the latest sendamail if i tell fetchmail to get the mail off of the remote mail server it will get the mail and put it in the mailbox that i want it too but it will not get the mail off of the remote server with out me telling it too is the a command that i could add to one of the fetchmail file to have it get mail every hour or something like that i read some faq's and that told me it should fetch mail every 5 mins but it will not fetch at all with out doing it myself

A line that reads 'set daemon XX' in your .fetchmailrc will run fetchmail at the interval you specify - XX. I think the value should be in seconds - ie 'set daemon 600' would check every 10 minutes.

set logfile ~<user>/fetch.log to scan your fetchmail activity
