What is the difference between a FP (feature pack) and a MP (maintenance pack)???? Should I be using one or the other on Windows 2000 Server?

Maintenance packs are released to address known issues, bugs etc. Feature packs contain program enhancements as well as everything included in the maintenance packs.

You cannot download feature packs as you need to have a maintenance agreement with Veritas in order to obtain them. Once on a feature pack upgrade path, DO NOT install maintenance packs as you will overwrite features added by the feature packs.

Summary:
1. Features Packs include bug fixes that are also in Maintenance Packs.
2. Maintenace Packs DO NOT include new features implemented in Netbackup Datacenter 4.5 FP3 and the new FP4.
3. Maintenance Packs may be released monthly; whereas, Feature Packs may only be released quarterly.
4. You cannot install Maintenance Packs to systems with 4.5 FP3 or FP3 installed.
