Feature 981 not working

So, the phones here have been funky for about a week. When I finally thought the whole thing had been fixed, turns out no one's VM is working.
Everytime someone does a Feature 981, they get the "Log" option. The catch is, this only happens on about 1/2 of the phones.
Does anyone know how to change it so that it goes straight to their boxes?
(Or, more importantly, is there a way to tell if it's something else. Everything I know about this system I learned from Google, we have no manuals and the pdf ones I found aren't helping.)
 
a 7310 CAN be on a Norstar or BCM, both use the same phones. Do you have a gray box on the wall or a smaller server size box in a rack?

I'm assuming it's Norstar.
All the boxes in the back say it.
 
There are times that the feature codes for voicemail change-verify them with feature 9*1. Your codes will be available for verification.
 
Receiving "LOG" on the display after initiating F981 indicates 1) that mailbox doesn't exist, 2) the mailbox has no extension defined for it, or 3) an incorrect extension is defined for it.

From one of the sets that isn't working properly, press F*0 and press Intercom to double check the extension. Then log into CallPiot/Startalk Flash and go to MBOX. Press CHG. Enter the mailbox number. Press next to Extension and verify it is set to the correct extension.

Also, when it says "LOG", you can enter the mailbox/password combination together and press "OK" to see if it lets you log in. For example, if it is mailbox 225 and password is 1111 then enter 2251111 and press "OK" or "#".
