Hi

When I import a feathered jpeg image into Flash 4 it takes away the smooth feathered outlines and reduces the colours and hardens the lines - it looks like it's been converted into a 256 colour gif where the feathered bits get clipped!

Does anyone know any way to import feathered jpegs perfectly where the smooth gradient gets kept?

Please email julian@ibi.ie also with any help.

Thanks

Use Photoshop 5.5 and instead of a JPEG use .PNG. Once you have your feathered image in photoshop, ctrl+shift+m to jump to Image Ready 2.0, once there optimize the picture in PNG-24 format, and click the transparency option. then in your picture window at the top right, click on the optimized tab to see what it will look like. once it is optimized, file>save optimized as.. and then name your file.
Then go back into flash, and ctrl+r to import, grab the .PNG and voila! Transparency gradients, without clipping.
