I have a split FE/BE database which 8 PCs in the office connect to. Since splitting the database a few error messages pop up relating to the database not being available. When I check windows explorer the mapped network drive containing the BE will have a red cross on it. When I click this drive it connects and then the DB works fine. All mapped drives are reconnected automatically at log on so I can't understand the problem. All machines refer to the server as 'X' drive.

Does anyone have any ideas please. When the DB was not split we had no network problems but the DB was prone to corrupt a couple of times a week but would repair easily. Since splitting I have never had to repair the DB but have the network issue described above!

Hi,

You could try to use the servername instead of the mapped driev numbers,ie:

servername\\foldernameA\foldernameB
This shuld eliminate erros in mappings.

From what I gather from the info you give it also wouldn't suprise me if the problems (before an fter splitting) are related to the same source of erros in drive mapping.
