Hi there

Have recently upgraded my mobo and PSU....everything seemed to work ok until I went to use the FDD. Not reading disks and the disk-read light is permanently on.

IDE cable is fitted correctly, as is power connector.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the drive is behaving in this way?

Thanks

Chris

the cable is installed backwards on one end. check both ends, the pink wire should be on the side closest to the power connector on the drive, and it is pin1 (should be labelled on the motherboard) on the motherboard side.

Disk light always on = cable is connected backwards. Try it the other way it should be all good....

Thanks guys!!

Indeed IDE cable backwards on mobo!

Cheers

Everyone has told you the cable is on backwards. On some motherboards, it is easy to mistake pin 1 of a nearby device as pin 1 of the IDE cable. If in doubt reverse it and see what happens.
