I am having problems getting my mandrake 7.2 box to recoginze my floopy drive. I have the system run Harddrake upon every boot to detect devices. I have also attempted to run ./MAKEDEV -v -i fd0
however, I only recieve the error.
"don't know how to make device "fd0"

The floopy was working fine as of 4 days ago. now there is no device in the /dev directory labeled as fd0. I am pretty sure that the floopy is still fucntional.

any help would be appreciated.

Is it enabled in BIOS?
take a look there first.
do you have any other fd* devices under /dev ?

Hi,

You should be able to just use mknod :

# mknod /dev/fd0 b 2 0

That creates a device file of type block major 2 (Floppy disks) and minor 0 (Controller 0, drive 0, autodetect).

Hope this helps
