Red Hat Linux 9 installation issues

Greetings!

I'm a newbie at Linux and when I tried installing Red Hat Linux 9 I have some problems. When I install Red Hat Linux I can't see the opening GUI. The monitor LED just blinks, showing nothing in the screen. Even if i use the option "linux -lowres". But when I use the option "linux text" the installation options can be seen.

Maybe if you give us some details on your video hardware (card, chipset, monitor), we could help out a little more. What kind of computer is it, and what is it equipped with?

flugh: It's the installation-screen, which isn't seen, so I guess there isn't much to do before installation, is it?

You could try Fedora core 2 (just released). It has much-improved hardware detection and may get around your problem.

But before you install it check out bug # 115980 at

- I didn't, and hosed down the partiion table on my dual-boot (with WinXP) box. Twice.

Gigabyte 7VRXP v1.1
768 MB DDR-SDRAM
MSI GeforceFX-5200 128 MB
