I am trying to understand what this means:-
fbackup(3027): ioctl error, can't query outfile at media record 2972556.
The DLT tape is working fine because I have tested it using tar and fbackup for small directories. But when I ask it to do a full back-up this is the message I get in my log file.

Logfile:-

fbackup(1004): session begins on Fri Feb 8 00:00:33 2002
fbackup(3203): volume 1 has been used 2 time(s)
fbackup(3024): writing volume 1 to the output file /dev/rmt/0m
fbackup(3027): ioctl error, can't query outfile
at media record 1800297
fbackup(3102): attempting to make this volume salvagable
fbackup(3123): could not read the previous checkpoint record
fbackup(3105): writing 2 EOFs and rewinding the tape
fbackup(3106): please mount a good tape
fbackup(3041): output file /dev/rmt/0m is currently being used and not available
fbackup(3019): would you like to enter a new output file?
fbackup(3022): would you like to continue this session?
fbackup(3004): writer aborting
fbackup(1002): Backup did not complete : Reader or Writer process exit

Hey,
I am working on HP-UX 11.0 L-Class and I don't have that directory. Where else could it be?
I have done a find on *.config files but nothing useful has come from it.
Anymore ideas were the config file could be?

Thanks in advance

Ehspacl,
You can use any filename to create this config file
#vi /home/ehspacl/backup.conf
Add that stuff in to this file.

Run fbackup from command line for testing.
#fbackup -C /home/ehspacl/backup.conf -0v -f /dev/rmt/???? -i /dir1 -i /dir2

-0v for level0 backup verbose mode
-i /dir1 = include /dir1 in backup
