Fax will not pick up outside call (OPT 11c)

I created a analog line using a DID for a fax machine. The machine will pick up an internal call (4 digit DN), but when it receives a call from the outside it will not pick up. I noticed that the external call has a different ring. It is faster than the internal ring. Has anyone seen this before and does anyone have any advice?

GHTROUT thank you for your reply. From what it sounds like, it is all or nothing. Our users are too used to the distinctive ring to shut it off for everyone. In our environment only supervisors have display phones. I was hoping I could have done it at the TN level.

Does CLS FAXA change something to your problem ?
 
Personally, I would blame the fax machine, since it should be smart enough to answer distinctive ring. I'd call the dealer or Xerox - they have certainly seen this problem before and will continue to see it forever.

does the fax machine have a setting on it for how many rings
before it answers if so set to one ring and see if that works for you if not seeing how the people wants to have
distinctive ring get them a fax line from your local
phone company that does not go thru the pbx and see how
they like the monthly charge for that line compared to
the distictive ring my bet they get rid of distinctive ring

crac74 - I tried your suggestion, unfortunately it did not work.

GHTROUT - I have contacted Xerox and I am waiting to hear back from them. I have other machines that have a setting for this, but was unable to find it on this model.

strmwalker - I was hoping to not use a pots line. The hundreds of people that would be effected makes changing the distinctive ring impossible. I always wondered why people would not answer outside calls anyway. But I always lose that argument.

i've had this problem before.. when you have drng yes on the rdb, you get by default one short one long.. fax machines are a problem.. if you change the ftc to be one long and one short, you still get a unique ring.. and fax machines answer the call..

either that or turn off drng on the route
