Hi,

We have a branch office with a BCM50e, main cabinet only, recently upgraded from 1.0 to 3.0.
We eventually plan to network it with the BCM50 3.0 in HQ here, hence the SIP trunk.

It is configured with:
4 Int Digital Sets
4 Int Analog Sets
4 Int Analog Trunk
4 VM seat
2 UM seat
1 Fax Messaging
1 IP Client seat
1 SIP GW Trunk
1 LANCTE Seat

There are four analog lines connected to the system and they frequently use all four lines simultaneously for outside calls.

We don't want to spend the money on hardware to add a fifth line but we need to migrate the fax number for that location from their existing soft-switch provider so they can cancel that service.
We would like to forward the fax number to one of the existing 4 analog lines in the system.

Caller ID info is required so the system is set to ring twice before answering.
Auto Attendant in then invoked.

Does the BCM50e have a built-in fax switch that can recognize a fax call before the AA?

The CICS 4.1 had such a switch.
We're hoping that there is a way to handle faxes on the BCM50e the way a CICS did (does.)

Thanks for any help.

No built in switch. They have a Fax site keycode for fax to a mailbox. But if you use the Internal analog ports program the line to ring on it with the fax connected to it. It could not be used in the AA. It is not going to work the way they want it to with out problems of being busy -in use- and not using the AA.It needs to be a direct line to the Fax.

This option is built into Auto Attendant and requires no keycode.

The system fax extension lets callers use the autosend feature on their fax machines to send faxes to the CallPilot system. The Automated Attendant recognizes the fax tone and transfers fax calls to the system extension fax machine for printing. The system extension must be a valid extension. The system extension is not assigned by default.
Connect the fax machine to an Analog Telephone port on the system. The system extension is available even if no Fax options are installed at your site. The other properties are available only if you have installed the
corresponding fax options.
