Incoming faxes that are dumped into mailboxes occasionally have burps causing part of the fax to smear. Sometimes the smear lasts for one or two lines. sometimes the rest of that page and the remaining pages are ok. They get the fax resent and then it looks fine.

It's intermittent, about 5% of their incoming faxes do this.

Does anyone have any ideas?

There are some issues regarding fax machines not being compatible with the call pilot. The other worth checking is the clocking source on your external lines.

It's not smearning on the fax machines. It's smearing on in the unified messaging client mailbox

Whenever they open their Outlook, the faxes they see in their mailboxes are smearing

If you have a PRI...Change clocking from Master to Primary

I agree, we just had the same issue and switched the PRI back to primary (where it should have been all along) and it cleared the issue.

Yes, we also solved the issue after. We got help from someone and told us to change it to primary and it hasn't happened since.
