FAX setup for DID number

Hi,

We have a SIP line and one of the DID can be used as FAX number.

Can you please assist me for any configuration steps and if additional hardware is needed in the IP office 500V2 side other than the fax machine?

Thanks

Make sure your fax transport support is set correctly on your SIP line under VoIP (I use T38 Fallback). Some SIP trunking providers don't support T38 so you might need to confirm with your provider.

You'll also need an analogue phone port in the 500V2, and that should be set to be a fax machine:

Thanks Shaun,

Any additional configuration like how to route the incoming of the DID fax number to use the analogue phone port?

Same as any other extension - using your incoming call routes. Send the DID to the extension associated with your phone port.

Not that I have to worry about fax these days and nor do you if you have DID, there are some fax features in Voicemail Pro.

RSV23, just FYI incoming faxes with SIP should typically work fine, but more and more I come across some outbound fax machines, which when we try to send to them, they just won't accept faxes from our clients on sip lines. I advise my clients to get an email address to use instead when possible. As ipohead said, the future of faxing is short term.

I receive error saying incompatible after 5 rings on the SAA when trying to call the fax number
