I have a clinic complaining about fax quality. They have g700's. The lines have been looked at. There has been absolutely no complaints about call quality. Just not sure where to look, or what to change. The person I took over for didn't ever really do anything with fax issues, just stated it was the fax machine itself. But the speeds have been changed, etc. I am at a loss on what to do with fax issues, and I get this type of complaint randomly from many different clinics, this is just the worst one, and the one we are focusing on. We are considering getting straight 1fbs but can these be plugged into the media gateways? Lost and frustrated...

What kind of trunks are you using? Do you have trunks in that G700? What codecs are you using? Did you set fax relay/pass-through? T.38?

fax relay is set to pass through. There is one isdn trunk for that clinic. I am not seeing it set up any differently than any others, the only difference is that that clinic is using a different carrier than the rest. At the main site it is set to T.38, but all outside clinics are set to pass through, and none of the others are having issues. I am waiting on some additional information from the clinic, like the errors they are receiving. The information I have is that they said it is poor quality on incoming faxes. Unsure about outgoing, but the complaints seem to be centered around incoming only. They have 9 faxes, also unsure if it is on all. We have moved them to a fax server located in our data center, but they are seeing the same issues. I have been doing some traces, but hard to determine, when I don't know which one's are good or not. Being Friday, not a lot of people in. The only thing I can think of is that it could be a trunk issue, as the ip-codec is the same all the other clinics use.

The circuit is in that gateway? If so, did you set your sync source for that gateway?

I didn't set any of this up. I took the position over, and am trying to learn all this telecom stuff. I will look into this though. I have no idea about circuits in the gateway.
