We just recently brought an Opt 81C online. We are cutting over our buildings one at a time. My problem is I can send and receive faxes between fax machines that are behind our pbx but I cant receive faxes from anyone outside our pbx. I can send faxes outside our pbx. We are connected to a SL-100 over PRI trunks. I can't seem to find anything in LD 10 to resolve the problem. Can it be the SL-100? Thanks for the help.

The IDC option is not even enabled for our switch in LD 15 so we don't have any tables built. Is there something I need to do here?

WHAT DID NUMBER DO YOU HAVE ASSIGNED TO THE FAX

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

FORGOT, ARE YOU RECIEVING CALLS ON THE REST OF THE DID'S ASSIGNED TO DIGITAL SETS

The DID is 8509 and yes all digital sets work fine. I have three fax machines with this problem.

Remember I can fax out and within our switch. Here is our TN printout.

plug a analog set into jack and use your cell phone and call the analog set. This way you'll at least know if 8509 is receiving calls from outside the system.

Put 8509 on a digital set and see if it can receive calls from outside the system.

I can receive calls on a digital set with 8509. I can also receive a call from my cell phone on the fax machine if I pickup the handset on the fax machine. The issue seems to be trying to connect one fax to another.

I am assuming the fax answers and does the handshake and somehow fails during ir after the handshake.

With this assumption i would guess you have a voice quality problem on the T1 the DIDs are coming in on - Is your Clock set and tracking, are you getting any slips or BPVs. on a voice call do you hear clicks etc.

Since inhouse works, it has got to be something with trunking or intergroup problems. These would usually show up as bug, err, and aud errors.

give us the whole picture if you can. Loop of T1, clock source, any slips etc. Fax is on loop 4 do you have all your faxs on loop 4? etc....

you need a clock source pri or not. the Dchannel may not come up or sometime fail if no clock source.

I agree with Reusser , you should your Clock In PRI .
IF you not have clock its impossible the synchronism.

Our clocking is coming from the SL-100. We are not getting any errors. I do have a fax on another loop and that fax doesn't work either.
Reusser-fax machines never answer but they are all set to auto answer.
Here is a trace on an incoming fax.

check the polarity of the fax line at the jack - some machines will not answer if the polarity is wrong.

or you could just try reversing it on the MDF

if the line is othrwise good, but the faxes won't answer, it is possible that they don't recognize the ring pattern. I don't know how to change it, but that is a problem I've had elsewhere. I don't recall if you specifically said if you heard ringing when an analog device is plugged in. Is there a ring generator on the shelf/loop? (I don't work with the 'big' swtiches that often, so someone else will have to correct me.)
