Fax keeps ringing no answer??

Can someone please help a fax machine that has a dial tone is setup when I call it , it just keeps ringing no pickup/ I copied the programming from another working machine. I hooked up another fax beside the one that keeps tringing and the other one works >> I don't get it.

is the fax set to auto answer

Make sure distintive ringing is not turned on in the RDB of the incoming route. If it is turn it off as a fax machine will NOT answer with it turned on.

is your incoming analog ring one long ring or 2 quick short rings. some machines will recognize either some need a longer primary ring. And auto answer has to be on, check the fax on a known good fax no.

If all of the above fails, check for ringing voltage with a meter. Could have a bad slot on a card.
