i have ipoffice 500 manager v.6.
i have fax that is connected to the ipoffce and when it dials 201 area code fax number and if it fails or they dont dial 9 then it dials a users extenstion which is 201.
is there something that can be done to prevent this?

It is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing. You must dial a 9 to get an outside line.

As an alternative to this you can use the following Short Code under that user's Short Code tab. Note that this will prevent that user/fax from ever dialing an internal extension.

N
Dial
N

And target whatever ARS table or outbound line group ID is appropriate.

thans kholladay for quick response.

currently i have
Code: N;
Feature: Dial
Line Group: Point to ARS

this is under the Fax extension. is this the place you want me to check? or is it the user who is getting the fax (at extension 120)? under ext 120 ShortCodes i dont have anything specified.

the user who is getting the fax is extension 120 so when someone tries to fax to 1201 he gets the beeping on his extension.

I am confused. Are we talking about outbound or inbound?

its happening on outbound. when we try to send faxes from the fax machine that's connected on ipoffice.

You don't need the ; after the N, that should be in the ARS (the ; that is) :)
