fastSearch.cc autoset as homepage 6

Hi,
The site fastsearch.cc has setup itself as my home page in IE.
I already run Spybot and it removed some spyware, but still fastsearch remains as the home page and no the one I have set as home page.

Is there any other procedure I can execute to get ride of it?

That didn't work. It won't allow me to rename the file because the "file is in use" or is write-protected.
I'm not sure where to go from here...

Jenius,
Try a REPAIR-type start using the console option (boot from the Win2k CD) and then you can go to the location of the file and rename it. This is a cumbersome process, I know, but it is likely to get the desired result.

Boot to recovery console and delete it with "del" command .

Jenius,
Many times you can "release" the file from the clenches of Windows by using Ctrl-Alt-Del and looking through the running processes and turing it off there. Once you have done that, you should be able to delete it.

Of course , and sysinternal processviewer can kill
non killable from taskman.

yes i have this same problem, and i also get a run dll error, concerning msconfd.dll when starting my pc. how do i get rid of it cos setting my internet options back to yahoo as home page isnt working

msconfd.dll is the trojan .

It's set to run from registry and you have managed
to get rid of the file.

Delete this.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Desktop] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msconfd.dll,Restore ControlPanel
