I have a customer on MICS 4.1. They have been using their FastRAD for remote programming for years but it just quit. I replaced their RAD because I couldn't connect to it even with a serial cable. I made sure the new one had the patch applied to answer target lines on a PRI and I can connect to it locally with a serial cable.
I have assigned a DID and pointed it toward the RAD extension. I assigned the target line to ring on the extension and if I connect a digital set to that port, the DID rings in fine.
I have the RAD set to answer after 6 seconds and it is set to answer the target line I have set up.
The response we get remotely is modem didn't respond. I can't assist them by transferring either, it still won't talk.
I am a local vendor for a national account so it isn't me trying to connect, it is the corp. IT guys.
What am I missing, and or what might they be doing wrong? The last time they were able to connect was when the last IT guy was there so I'm questioning the new guy's knowledge and ability.
My next thought was to upgrade to 6.1 or higher to see if that helps but I'm not sure they'll pay for that.
Thanks for your time.

I would program the DID to answer on zero rings, why set it up so it has to wait if you have a designated number. 2 - If you call the DID does the RAD pick up? Do you hear the modem sound? What if you call the RAD from another extension does it pick up? Some basic troubleshooting should be able to find/ fix this in no time.

The FastRAD does not allow a setting lower that 06, if you know of a way around this, let me know.
Yes the modem answers a call from a phone, but not when they try to connect a PC remotely.
All the "basic" trouble shooting has been done, I'm looking for advanced knowledge.

so if the operator transfers the call via feature 9*0, that this does not work?

I run into this all the time, some of the newer T1's seem to have a problem with one of their settings. Sometimes I must call 7-10-12 times before it finally connects. Others I can't get into at all. I have called the provider (Integra) and they have changed a setting (somewhere?) they don't seem to want to talk about it. I have also run into problems with FAX machines on the T1.
Has there been a change in providers or did they "upgrade"?
Good luck with this.

You do NOT assign Lines to a RAD for the sake of answering NRU connection, remove the ringing for testing purposes (appear only).

Go into RAD programming F9**, you will see where you can tell the RAD which line you want it to answer.....I think you sort of said you did this but just to be sure I mention this.

"I can't assist them by transferring either, it still won't talk."

Again to be sure - Proper method is to call any human onsite and have them do F9*0 to transfer a call to a RAD.

You may have a bad RAD that you replaced it with or a failed firmware update.

Try another RAD.

Note that you have not provided enough details such as what is the message exactly and /or error code given and proper methods you have used.

As for part time connections I used to do this back in the day during the modem beeping tones for bad/far lines.
IRAD - on 2 beeps click connect.
RAD - on 6 beeps click connect.

Thanks, I am not the one trying to connect so I'm not sure what the exact error message says. The RAD is set up properly within F9** to answer the target line.
I can say that I was not using the 9*0 properly when we tried the assisted connection so I will give that a try.
If this works, what else might be the issue with it not answering the DID automatically?

I performed the update and it seemed to take it but it may have other issues.
