Hi ,

I have an issue with Fastconnect dumping on 4.3.3

Fastconnect is at rev 3.1.0.0

Has anyone any experience of this.

Sods Law dictates that this is the second day after migrating a major system from Tru64 to AIX, and the loss of Fastconnect causes the Client App to crash out.

Many Thanks

Mark

Hello,
do
lquerypv -h core 6b0 64
it will tell you what program core dump.

Ihave already determined that the core is from fastconnect (cifsserver)

What I need to find out is what is causing the problem.

Hello,
If you know fast connect is core dumping then you need to contact the maker of fastconnect and provide the coredump file to them. They will be able to figure and fix the core dump issue. If IBM makes fastconnect software and you are in USA you can call 1-800-CALL- AIX and you can open pserv that does not cost you any money.

Well there were quite a few patches on fast connect

Including earlier versions 2.1 that core dumped all the time...
The latest fast connect is 3.1.1.2

I might also suggest if you aren't at the latest patch for Fast Connect and FOR AIX, Maintenance level 9 or 10......that you upgrade, that can be a cause of dumps.

OOoo ooo AIXQUEEN,

A Patch for Fastconnect?

I guess I should grab this and install to see if this fixes the problem.

I think the machines are at ML 8 at the moment.

I have little experience on AIX at the moment, how big a job is applying an updated maintenance level?

Regards

Mark

If you have the CD, ML9 is easy enough. Install time depends on what you have installed, though. ML9 fixes quite a bit of stuff and I highly suggest taking whatever time it takes. It will require a reboot (probably).
