fangs on my text!?!

how do I remove these? I was ables to solve this problem when I used to use coreldraw by making the outline corners round, but when I select the text and outline fill InDesign CD, these options are grayed out.

Those controls apply to editable strokes which your text may not officially have yet. Use the type menu to convert this text to paths and then try that palette again.

Also (after you convert), if you still have the problem, change the Miter Limit, which determines the angle at which long extensions like that get clipped.
 
why is the miter limit not useable for text, Ive used it with other software packages. looks like I'm going to have to find another font if I want to use Indesign

I'd rather not convert to paths, since the text need to stay as text since it is dynamic and changes frequently...
also as you can see, the results are not much better

Yeah, that miter limit works both ways. :-(

Not sure how you can do it better in ID, sorry.
