false error reporting dialogue closes Pdx 11

Immediately after startup of Pdx 11 under XP Pro (newly installed), error reporting dialogue box appears ("pdx encountered problem, has to close etc"). If this dialogue box is left alone, pdx works normally, but close this dialogue and the whole thing is shut down. Turning off error reporting has not solved the problem - Pdx is shut down immediately without warning. Turning off error reporting but choosing notification when critical errors occur produces same results as with error reporting turned on fully - pdx works fine behind the dialogue box, so long as it is left floating.
The appcompat.txt file is full of "matching file name" entries.
I have no idea how to proceed!
Suggestions very welcome!

Any ideas?

Is this the same problem you reported in that other thread, where you got the same suggestion?

It is sure better to go back to the same thread so we know what has and hasn't been suggested.

And respond back, please, letting us know when things do and don't help.

I have tried the c switch - I did it from the command prompt ..pdxwin32/c (I could not make -c work from the run dialogue, must have the syntax wrong). It makes no difference, except that the desktop opens clear.
Hidden files etc are not turned off.
I have 2 licensed CDs with this software, tried installing off both discs, makes no difference. However I am surprised to note that both discs have the same paradox serial number (very reputable source, Insight).
I am running pdx 11 now, with the error reporting dialogue window pushed into the corner, all works fine; but if I close the dialogue, it all shuts down. Perhaps I should re install XP.
Sorry I started a new thread - I did not see this reply box, can't think how I missed it

I forgot to reply that I am using XP as computer administrator

The -c switch is added after the quoted portion of the icon.

(Paradox 9 below)

"C:\Program Files\Corel\WordPerfect Office 2000\programs\pdxwin32.exe" -c

You probably have to right-click the desktop and create a new icon; the one created by the installer doesn't allow for editing of the command used to start a program. Just select the executable for starting Paradox for that new icon, then add the -c after the last quote.

It turns out this is an XP fault - the false error reporting dialogue has since afflicted 3 other programs. The -c switch works fine - Thank you.
