Hi all

I have 2 servers behind a firewall which we are backing up through Legato. All level 1's complete properly, however when we run a full backup it makes 5 attempts for each drive and then reports unable to backup. However the index's shows that all 5 attempts were complete, and the data is there for recovery.

Any ideas of why legato will not complete a full backup?

These are win2003 servers and I have OFM on one of them.

I assume the problem is with the duration of the backup. An incremental or differential simply does not last as long as a full. But i can't tell you why.

You should look whether the backup always fails at the same file/directory. Maybe this can tell you more.

I think I know this one..

In the saveset recover window or such check the savesets
(5 of them?) that you have...are they the same amount of
time apart?

If so, what your seeing is the full backup running longer than
or up against a firewall timeout value. Check the tcp
connection timeout value or such on the firewall.

Are you saying that Legato reports a failure but the backup is actually completing successfully?
