Arcserve version 7 SP5 on Windows 2000 SP4.
Trying to configure the Exchange Alerts.
sending a test message results in the message "Failed to Send Email (-2147221231)"

In services.msc the alert service starts as localhost.
Alert Manager is configured as follows

Impersonation account
Domain: sas
username: Arcserve
Password: *************

Microsoft Exchange
server: SAS_Exchange
mailbox: Arcserve

I am logged in at the console and/or via RDP as SAS\Arcserve.

Arcserve was installed while logged in as SAS\Arcserve.
The Arcserve system account is SAS\Arcserve.

I can log on to the mail system through the Alert Manager and through Outlook 2002.
I can set up a new item (address from the mail server).

The Arcserve account is a member of the Domain Admins group. Which in turn is a member of the Administrators, Backup operators groups on the server.

If i change the service account in services.msc to the SAS\Arcserve and restart the service it starts fine but then in the Alert Manager I get error 1314 either trying to send a test message or if I view the exchange settings.

I put the Alert Manager into debug mode and this is the output file.

Can anyone help?

Chris

I have the same error .... Trying to set the alert manager to send me an Email when the backup is at the end.
This is not the exchange server but another server of the same domain.

:dunno: ... i' don't know how to resolve...

Is this an albuild log or
MS Exchange ExchPstr AlrtExch.log

Alert debug should be set for Exchange more than albuild.

hi

i'm having the same problem
i tried to create a new backup job and formatting all the tapes, but the problem still remain.

i checked the event viewer but no errors has been logged
