I had RHEL 4.0 workstation and installed Cfengine by one of company.RHEL 4.0 kernel is 2.6.9-67.ELsmp;Kudzu service started;usb flash disk was detected.
RHEL 4.0 can't detect all usb harddisk
Any suggestion to solve usb harddisk detection problem?
Because I can detect that usb harddisk thru knoppix 6.2.
Thanks

Have you checked dmesg to see what the kernel is reporting?

Yes, I had checked dmesg. And can't see any /dev/sdxx on dmesg. Also run # fdisk -l

Have you checked to see what modules are loaded in knoppix and compared them? Perhaps a USB module that's needed is missing.

I had checked usb-storage module.
That module loaded.
Because I can detect usb flash drive from that RHEL workstation.

Do an fdisk -l and see if you can actually see the physical drive such as /dev/sdb1 (or whatever).

If you can, then the kernel detected it correctly.

Good luck!
