Hello,
I am running MSSQL 2000 for my database with Arcserve 2000 sp3.

When I go to modify my job and go to save/process the job, I receive the error message that it failed to create media pool. The current media has been working just fine, I started to receive this message after converting RAima to mssql 2000.
Please assist.
thanks,
Howie

When modifying the backup job.. give a new media pool and submit the job. Then again modify the job and give your old media pool name so your job will use the original media pool
specified for that job...

Or
Try this...
Click ok on the pop up message " unable to create media pool" and run the job again..

Thanks,
Baba

baba,
I will give that a shot, but I know that when I had the RAIMA, I never received that message....is sql that much different?

Try exiting Arcserve completely and and going back in, then modify the job. Works for me all the while.

This was fixed in T146284, asdbcli1.dll dated 08-08-2002.

I'm having what seems to be exactly the same problem with the same setup except I've applied SP4 to Arcserve. After converting the database to SQL I can't modify my existing GFS jobs due to error "Unable to create media pool". I was able to modify one of them after restarting the server, but it will not work on the other job.

hhuges - Have you tried Baba's suggestion?

jabus - what do you mean by T146284? Is that a CA patch? I haven't been able to find one on their site referring to that particular file and date.

Thanks for any suggestions...

Just an update...

I was able to find a work around at least for my environment. While modifying the job, I stopped and started all the engines. It then allowed me to submit the modified GFS job successfully.

The T-patches are ones that have not been released, as they have not been fully tested. If it is not a high-priority fix, then it will be in the next service pack (or if a high-priority fix is created after the low priority fix, as it will incorporate all previous fixes). Or if you have a support contract, you can get it.

We do not use GFS, so I do not know if GFS media pools are different.
