Hi everybody,

I receive this error from a server:

Failed to connect to CMA updater

What does it mean? Which is the cause?

Many thanks in advance from you guys...

The CMA updater is the "Common Framework Component" of the ePO Agent, but more specifically, it is the scheduling component that runs how the ePO agent does whatever task we are talking about. This means running the updates for VirusScan to get DAT files as well as telling the Agent when to connect to the ePO server for policy updates or to submit data to the ePO database.

I would suspect that this error message is going to be accompanied with some activity that is not being performed properly or at all. (i.e. your updates aren't running etc.) There can be many different things that would show you this error. It would also be helpful to know what version of VirusScan is on the machine is question as well as what version of the Agent/ePO you are running.

You might also try uninstalling the Agent and the re-installing it by following these steps:

1. open console (DOS)

2. navigate to the installation for the ePO agent
(\program files\network associates\epo(x)\)

3. type FRMINST.EXE /REMOVE=AGENT

(This will remove the agent portion of the common framework)

4. then type FRMINST.EXE /INSTALL=AGENT

(This will re-install the agent portion of the common framework, and maybe re-initialize the CMA connection)
