Hi I have taken the 291 exam 3 times and can not get pass 291. Wanted to know should I continue to try for the 291 or move on to 293. Used the sybex books for 291 and I have sybex book for 293. Should I study both books for the 291 exam. I am just stuck right now and don't know where to go from here.......help!!

Not studied for the 291 but used the sybex book for 290 and 228 and neither really covered as much as I wanted them too. Personally I have used the MS books and they cover what I need in enough detail.

Thanks for the response dyarwood,

I just recently ordered the MS Press books. So I should read the MS Press 291 and retake?

P.S.
Amason is selling the MS Press core requirements for $86. Thought it was a good deal, so if I am not suppose to do this, Sorry.

I have read that the exams get harder as you progress through them 290->291->etc. The question is do you think you can pass the 293 easier than the 291? Personally I would stick with the 291, practice over and over until I felt over ready.

Really you should hammer out labs in a real/virtual environment if you have access to any of this. Reinforcing what you read with seeing it in action will most definetly help you remember how to deal with the situational questions that you get. What were your weak points on the 291? Take the results thing they gave you and hammer them out until you can do it in your sleep.

Good luck!

I just passed the 291 and yea it's a hard exam, but dyarwood is right, they will get harder.

My 2 cents is, you need 70-291 to achieve either of MCSA or MCSE. 70-293 is useless by itself if you already have an mcp.

FYI, I also used the MSPress books, and CBT Nuggets. I learn best visually so the nuggets were best, at $200 was well worth it.

I would not describe the exams after 291 as harder than 291. Generally 291 is the hardest of the WIN2K3 cert exams, now I don't want to give you the wrong impression and say that the others are easy but I would say they are not as tough as 291.

For studying I use MS Press books, cbt nuggets or trainsignal and measureup practice tests. I find that a combo of the above gives the right amount of ground work to go and sit the exam with confidence.
