I have a wierd problem. I have phones that are calling each other. in other words i had a report ext XXXX was ringing and when they picked up the person on the other end picked up. both phones were ringing. also another user played an audix message that had two other users picking up and asking each other why they called. it is not just intenal calls. the 1st problem was a internal number only and a person outside the facility. has anyone heard of this problem before? i do not know where to even start looking. we are a hospital and i need to get this resolved quick. any replies are appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what is happening, but run a list usage for the station. Maybe some bridged appearances or other type of service?

I'm not sure if you have any development adjuncts to your switch that would allow remote control of telephones, but we run Intel Netmerge for CTI that allows us to control users telephones without them knowing and play "funny" tricks on them. (of course, we never do this but the capability is there. :) ) The scenerio you described is completely possible with the software but not sure if that's the problem. The CTI stuff would be very dangerous if it got into the hands of the wrong person.

Try turning off outcalling on the Audix and setting up a COR restriction to only allow the Audix ports to call stations on the switch and not dial out to the PSTN.

sjforcum, we have very limited bridged ext's. we dont alow them in areas that contact and talk to patients directly.

extreme4x4mt, we have no adjucts that allows any type of control of phones. im at a loss on this one. it is not a problem that happens all the time. but it is one we are concerned with due to a patient was one that was involved with this.

Interesting problem - Parts of what you are describing sound like Auto-Callback is being activated. Except I think it only works as described for internal calls...

To eliminate this possibility, you can alter your default COS for patient or all stations and disallow the feature.

Analog stations (with access to soft hold) sometimes have done some similar things with me over the years when the switch hook gets flashed and calls are transferred accidentally and end up in Audix. I think I have even had 2 call-answer sessions in Audix recording each other - been a while, tho.

cmarch, i just figured that out. what happened is ext 1234 called ext 5678, switch hooked, called 4321, switchhooked again called 8765 and hung up, therefore conf. 3 ext's. i found out because one of the ext's went to voice maile and i heard the other two talking about there phones ringing. one of them stated on thier disp it said audix. i am going to assume this is what has happened and keep an eye out to see if ahyone else has a problem with a digital phone doing the same. thanks everyone.

You can disable conference via switch hook in system-parameters-customer-options.
