ExtremeNetworks: XFP, XFP and XENPAK

Hello Guys,

I need to figure the difference between the following module types:

1) SFP.
2) XFP.
3) XENPAK.

I believe the difference would be in terms of speed and optical/electrical forms but still wanted to be sure.

SFP, XFP and XENPAK are different form factor optics and they do come in various speeds for Extreme and other vendors. The SFP and XFP form factors both use the newer/smaller LC style optical patch cord connectors. The XENPAK relies on the older and larger SC style connector.

SFP's also known as Mini-GBICs come in 100 Mbps and Gigabit line rates and wavelenghts.

Both XFP and XENPAK are specifically used for 10 Gigabit rates and wavelenghts.
