I just joined to this great forum. How can I enable terminal monitor during my telnet tession. I need to see ONLY when ports go down/up during my telnet session.
I'm not 100 percent sure what you're asking, but if you want to see port status you can enter show port config. This will show the port status (linked, speed, negotiation, etc.) You can also show specific ports, such as show ports 1-3,5,9 config and this will only display those ports.
As the ports status changes it automatically refreshes.
if you work with Cisco you have the option to enable terminal monitor "term mon" command, which means you can see console messages over telnet sessions. In Extreme Switches I need to enable the same option, to see when port goes down/up while I am connected to an Extreem Switch over telnet. Please help! I need to live monitor ports when they go down/up.
The only way I know to do that is to create a log filter that would display the log entry/word match "Port" to the console whenever "Port down" for example was logged. It's fairly simple. But, with the Extremes the idle timeout for telnet sessions is a maximum of 4 hours, so I'm not sure if you'll be able to have an "always on" connection via telnet.
Otherwise I can't think of anything like "term mon" in Extremes.
