I'm trying to pull the .mov videos off a promotional CD that was produced for my company by a defunct 3rd party.
I'm getting this error after copying/opening the file "You may experience problems playing a video track in "*FILENAME*" because a valid media key to authorize access tio a secured media file was not found"

I have no experience with qt other than the player side of the program. There are a few dxr files on the CD in the same directory, which are apparently qt files. Also the files QT3Asset.x32 and QuickTime Asset are on the CD.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm running windows xp.

It is possible to encode QuickTime movies with a media key (a.k.a. access key) that will prevent viewing the video track without the proper key (essentially, a password). This encoding happens at the codec level. At present only Sorenson uses it (to my knowledge). Sorenson 2 used the key to block access, but did not encrypt the data; Sorenson 3 does encrypt the data. So, without the key you're probably out of luck.

If you had the key, you could enter it into the QuickTime control panel (System Preference pane under Mac OS X) and you'd be set.

I'm afraid there's nothing else I can suggest if you can't get this key from the company that made the video file.
