Extract Serial Number from Compaq EEPROM

Hi all, can anyone tell me how I may get the serial number from a Compaq PC?. I believe that Compaq use an INT15 to extract this number from an onboard EEPROM. I have a small DOS utility which does this but I must now do the same thing from Delphi. Any help would be appreciated. DGJ

That is not illegal! This falls under Compaq insight manager and uses a standard api created for managing resources. SMS uses this standard called Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to collect information about the hardware on a machine. You can find out more information on

It is very complicated to implement and you will need the WMI SDK. It is free from microsoft but takes some wading through to get what you need.
