Hi everyone,

I was wondering how an email attachment can be detached for processing from an email.

Some input files will be sent thru email straight to VMS and the help facility on mail does not seem to touch on how they are detached.

I hope you could help me with this concern.

Perl and MIME::parser, or Net::pOP3 might help

as a suggestion only ;-)

VMS MAIL itself is text-only and does not handle attachments .
However, there are many possibilities:
Read mail through a webbrowser like Mozilla, or
Extract/noheader to a temporary file, then:
use the VMS MIME facility to unpack (see HELP MIME), or
use the freeware MUNPACK utility.
