Is there a way of using SSIS to extract data from a web page? Or is there a way of using SSIS to extract data from a html file?

Cheers

Is this a static web page or a web page that uses forms to get information?

It's a static web page Catadmin.

You might be able to use SSIS to pull the info from the webpage via XML.

I work with one of the writers of the recent SSIS book published by WROX. He's out of the office right now, but I'll verify this with him when he gets back.

Thanks Catadmin.

I've found out there's an alternative source for the data I require ... pdf files. These will be much easier to work with.

However if your colleague does have any suggestions on extracting data from a static web page then I'd appreciate this.

Okay, here's the sitch. There's nothing built into SSIS to do what you're want to do, but you might be able use the System.Web.Browser control (name??) to pull the webpage down and parse the response.

I suspect you'd do the control part via C# .Net or VB .Net.

Does that help?

Catadmin,

Thanks for your help on this one. We've found an alternative data source for the data we require. So I won't be pursuing extracting data from the web page. Thanks once again.

Cheers
