ok I've run out of PCI slots on my desktop, I need at least 2 more. Anyone out there make some sort of expansion modual so I can accomplish this without buying a new PC

Might want to say how many PCI slots total you need and what you are using them for. I have not seen anything like a PCI slot add-on. However, you might find some kind of PCI devices that allow for multiple purposes. Or a way to have a USB conversion for some of the things you want to do.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

They used to make an adapter to run multiple ISA slots off of one slot, however I haven't seen one for PCI. It is possible that you could upgrade your motherboard, but that might be more trouble than it is worth.

Is there anything you can remove from a PCI slot? Such as old modems, sound cards etc.? Also, there are USB2 and fire wire external devices you might be able to substitute depending on what you need. If it is a fire wire or USB2 add on card, you can get cards with types of ports.

Have you looked into using USB to connect some of the things you have on PCI?

i want to add a fire wire card and a gigabit ethernet card to this box. unfortunately it's a dell dimension and it has a limited number of slots available i already have taken a couple of them up. Anyways if usb was really an option I feel that USB is still to unreliable as a substitute.

USB has improved over the years, for me the only USB product that has proven to be 100% reliable is a light.

Not sure on Dell system, but have you checked to see if the M/B supports Firewire via a header. Sometimes they have pin outs that you can get an adapter for.
