I work for a company that uses Attachmate's Extra 6.7 and 7.1. We have an entire department that occasionally gets the following message when trying to print from the program: "Extra.exe has generated errors and will be shut down. An error log has been generated." This may not be verbatim but is close. They all print to an HP 2100 printer. A change of print drivers or print locations (one print server to another) will often fix the problem temporarily but it always comes back. Has anybody experienced this problem in the past and had a fix for it. I'd hate to have to rebuild their computers or even reinstall the Extra program. Many thanks in advance!

We have experienced the same thing. We were getting these errors on Win2k and newer machines running EPC 6.5 and 6.7. We have eliminated these by making sure that the Win2k and up machines have My Extra 7.1. Which is now creating some other issues with corrupting one of the sessions that we use. So we are rebuilding these sessions on peoples machines weekly. But no Extra.exe errors :)

This issue is with a dll in attachmate that sets the bufer size for the print module. The issue was fixed i understand with my!Extra 7.1. See if Attachmate can provide you with the dll that fixes the issue.

Under "print settings" delete any header or footer information. This worked for me using 6.5 under Win2K

Is it worth to upgrade to 7.1? or will that cause more problems then it fixes?

Thanks everyone! What we ended up doing is taking them to MyExtra 7.1 since we were legal for that version anyway. Nobody has had a problem since their upgrade.
