Any tips on Crystal formatting to ensure a clean export to Excel? These extra fows and columns are freaking killing me. I am using CRXI and am trying to export .pdfs to Excel.
The best methods I have found involve ensuring all cells in each section/row line up perfectly with zero space between them both horizontally and vertically. I do this using snap to grid, and the align/size tools.
Some of the cells end up longer, but you don't want to have a header cell for instance end in the middle of a detail cell.
I played with the widths and heights a bit and the results are better than before.
There are still extra rows after each record in Excel. Argh! It sounds like Crystal Enterprise .pdfs will have to be less legible in order to ensure that there's a smooth export in Excel (i.e., flat file).
One other thing I forgot to mention is to minimize/eliminate any white space in sections where you have data. Generally, looking at your output will tell you where the extra space is coming from, if each row has it--check your details section.
I also minimize or suppress where possible all sections that have no data in them.
