I need a reliable external hd to "ghost" my hard drive and slave drive(internal), can't find any reviews, other than the few reviews you get from the buyer's site. Anyone have some recommendations? I have windows xp home, want a drive around 160-200 gb. I have noticed some of the drives have a one button backup feature(with, I am sure the approiate software); is that really an advantage or is it just for lazy folk??
Did I say that price was important??LOL yes, it is, as I know there are some really high end ones out there, but I am on a budget.

Take a look at where some have been reviewed. There was also a test done by Computer Shopper magazine a few months ago. You should find it archived on their website
If you are just going to use it to keep ghost images as a backup for your computer (just like me) where speed isn't really a major factor, pretty much any USB drive with sufficient capacity should suffice.

I've used the Iomega hard drives with good luck for my clients who don't want to buy a tape drive. I'm about to dive into the 300 GB Maxtor USB drive. As long as it has a warranty, I think that's all that matters really. Don't go too cheap. Go with a brand name.

The Maxtor OneTouch is a great piece of hardware... I have two and have used them for MANY applications, ghosting being one of them. Be sure you create IMAGES of the drive, not COPIES of the drive, otherwise you will overwrite the copy of the first drive ghosted...
