If an outside caller calls in to my extension (DID). How do I go about transfering them to a outside number (9,(xxx)xxx-xxxx)?

Thanks

Just as you describe, however I'm guessing there are a number of COS options that need to be set to allow this. Try enabling 'Call Forward (External Destination)' as a start (sorry I don't know the complete configuration required).

These would generally be disabled by default as it's a good way to lose a company a lot of money.

There are several programming considerations.

Form 3 COS options for station and trunk must allow trunk to trunk conferencing.
If using forwarding you need Fwd to External

Form 30 Device interconnection must allow Trunk to Trunk connection.

Form 4 - If using forwarding you need Incoming to Outgoing Call forward

There may be others but assuming all are done you can transfer to an external number as simply as an internal station.

This is for forwarding a call to external # after answering the call.

I checked form 3. I do not see an option for Trunk to trunk conferencing.

I checked Form 30. Everything is marked with an "*". Is there something else I need to check?

The options for trunk to trunk are in the range from 313-319.

Where exactly is the call failing?

A normal call could be like this.

Call answered
Transfer button pressed
Outbound call dialed
Call released

or
Call answered
Transfer button pressed
Outbound call dialed
2nd call answered
Conference button pressed
call released.

Just a thought here but does the user have a headset and if so do they have a release button? A common misconception is that the X key is a hangup button. It is not, it is a cancel button and would cancel a transfer.

I guess the question is then. How do I release the call?

These are the steps I go through:
1)Call answered
2)Transfer button pressed
3)Outbound call dialed on second line
4)Call release (what button do I press?? Cancel?)

Thanks again...

You need to program a button on the set ~ "Release".

This transfers the outbound call gracefully.

As kwbmitel stated, the X on the phone is to cancel the transfer; and the receptionist most likely hangs up the phone after - thinking that the transfer was made, in reality hanging up on the customer.

if you have a display phone with softkeys the release should appear on one of the softkeys on or under the display (it might say hang-up as on a 4150).

For older sets like the 5212, 4015's etc you need a key to be programmed as the release.

I take it I guessed correctly on the headset part? you didn't mention it. If not, placing the handset in the cradle will complete the transfer as well.

I programmed a relaese button and went through the steps. Still doesn't work:

Call answered
Transfer button pressed
Outbound call dialed
Press call release button

Nothing happens. Call will not release!!

Help please!

If the call will not release it is likely due to one of the COS options not being set.

Make sure the Trunk COS also allows Trunk to Trunk connection.

Again, the options were in the range of 313-319.

let us be specific here, what type of trunks do you have from form 13 and what options do you have enabled between 313-319 for the cos of the 4025? As an example if you have T1 E&M you need 318 DID to DID.

THANK YOU ALL!!

It turned out to be COS option 318!!

Finally!
