I have an IP phone at a remote location off of a BCM450. It is in a warehouse and they would like an external speaker connected to it? Is there a way to do it without opening up the phone? Or will that even work with an IP phone? Thanks in advance.

Oh Man, I was able to get this to work on an i2001 phone mostly because it's a ONE WAY handsfree device. I tried it on the UCx from E-MetroTel with an 1210 full handsfree phone and experienced problems. That was because, when you make a page on the UCx, the Handsfree is automatically turned on, so any background noise will mute out some of what you are saying over the speakers.

If I recall though, paging through the Norstar 1100 IP Phones doesn't activate Handsfree so you shouldn't have a problem.

BUT, you will have to open the phone up to get the clearest connection.

I've never actually tried playing with plugging a Headset device into the headset jack on the 1140E and connecting that into an amplifier. It's possible that the paging is broadcast through the headset in headset mode, but like I said, I've never tried that.

Another Viable Option, but external, would be to buy a SNOM PA1, I thoroughly impressed by this device. You can set up an external SIP account through a company such as VOIP.MS, attach a DID to it and register the SNOM device as a SIP Phone. The SNOM PA1 can be at the site of paging and attach to an amplifier at the site of paging. You'd simply dial the DID and the SNOM PA1 auto answers and you can begin speaking. Only problem, is if someone gets a hold of the DID you could have some malicious stuff happen. There may be some ways to enter a passcode with the DID through VOIP.MS, or something like that. Guess you could always buy a new DID if that happens as well. With VOIP.MS, $25 sets it all up and you get about 3,000 minutes.

I guess they cannot hear the phone throughout the warehouse. I know with the NEC phones we take the phone apart and connect the speaker up. I wasn't sure if that would work with the IP phones. They need like a loud ringer or speaker.

It will work with the IP Phones, Can you buy a cheap i2001 phone? If you find a way to contact me, I'll send you one already wired through the mail for free. I have one I just disconnected because I installed a SNOM PA1 I. The i2001 worked very well. Look my name up on Linkedin and we can discuss how I can send it to you.

This site won't let you put actual contact information on here. Try looking for Joseph or Joe Sus Walgreens on Linkedin. The prewired paging phone is just wasting space in a box. It has an RCA cable soldered to the speaker leads on the phone with a stereo RCA jack on the other end. I am sure you can find a way to connect it to the amplifier with some connectors from Radio Shack, oh crap, my go to business is out of business....darn....
